The Ixchtel Necklace
The Ixchtel Necklace
Inspired by a recent trip across Belize, the Ixchtel Necklace is named for the Mayan goddess of the moon, love, medicine and the textile arts. She can be seen as both a young maiden and older woman, symbolizing the cycles of life. The Ixchtel is made with deep purple Druze agate beads, spaced between rustic disk beads crafted from coconuts. From this series, chunks of light purple amethyst rests alongside creamy, ivory agate barrels swirled with a bit of honey hue. The ceramic pendant mirrors the agate barrel beads in shades of ivory spotted with purples, browns and a hint of teal. The pendant is decorated with two dark purple, faceted amethyst beads. At the closure are two purple and ivory spotted oval beads that add visual interest and echo the purple and ivories of the necklace.
Druze agate is known for its balancing properties and amethyst is well regarded as a stone of wisdom and strengthening intuition. Both stones are said to activate the Third Eye and Crown Chakras, seats of wisdom and the higher consciousness. The Ixchtel necklace is a captivating piece with a little tropical influence making it the perfect companion to a breezy summer frock, a T-shirt and jeans or for days when some insight would make good medicine.
