The Grace Orchid Necklace

Named for Grace Kelly, Grace pairs composed elegance with the natural beauty of an unfolding orchid. Its blush-pink petals, traced with gold-tone accents, hold a single black Preciosa crystal like a beauty mark on a pale cheek. A strand of lemon-yellow quartz, faceted blush glass, and rose-gold hematite extends the delicate palette, while the black crystal gives the flower a subtle edge.

Found in a vintage shop, the 1982 Cerrito orchid pendant brings a later decade’s sculptural flourish to Cocktail Hour’s mid-century glamour. Its finely striated petals curl and flare, their pale pink surfaces edged with gleaming metallic accents. The connection to its namesake is one of sensibility rather than period: poised, refined, and striking without relying on a profusion of jewels.

An original crystal was missing when I discovered the orchid. I chose black Preciosa crystal as its replacement, a small but defining detail within the flower’s sculptural folds.

Lemon-yellow quartz and faceted blush glass carry the flower’s colors around the neckline. Rose-gold hematite adds reflective structure between the pale beads, balancing the orchid’s organic folds without diminishing their movement. The palette is restrained; the flower is not.

Part of Cocktail Hour, Grace offers another expression of evening glamour, with sculpted surfaces and flashes of metal in place of lavish rhinestone sparkle. Pair her with a blush silk camisole top and black leather pencil skirt, echoing the necklace’s pale elegance and small, decisive edge.
