Inspired by Sacagawea, the Shoshone woman who was a guide and interpreter for Lewis and Clark's expedition westward. Sacagawea is thought to mean "bird woman" in the Hidatsa language and is BohoHaus' first piece created in the FreeBird Collection. On their journey, Lewis and Clark intimated that her presence among thirty-one traveling men signified peace and trustworthiness, as she was resourceful, calm and a gifted translator.
The Sacagawea is made with two slabs of turquoise with smaller, faceted turquoise beads toward the back, alongside Howlite teardrops and earthy, mustard colored ceramic tube beads and pendant. The pendant has two turquoise beads and FreeBird's signature feather embellishments, which also appear at the neck.
Turquoise is a stone of protection and tranquility and is paired with calming, clarifying Howlite. The Sacagawea is an invitation to be resourceful and guide others and ourselves wisely--and with patience. Wear Sacagawea on days when you feel like you're traveling alone, or just need something beautiful to accompany the journey.
Length: 20 1/2" // Pendant: 3/4" x 1 1/8"
◆ All BohoHaus pieces are made by hand with careful attention to detail, using premium natural stones, Preciosa crystal, Czech glass and finished in sterling silver or 18k gold-plated sterling silver. ◆
